    This session is designed for tribal housing staff, supervisors, and leaders who need a practical understanding of effective property maintenance within tribal housing programs. Participants will learn the fundamentals of maintaining safe, decent, and sanitary housing, including routine inspections, work order management, preventive maintenance, and strategies for addressing common maintenance challenges. The training focuses on the policies, procedures, and day-to-day practices that help tribal housing programs protect their housing stock, respond to resident needs, and support long-term program compliance and sustainability.

    This session introduces practical strategies for identifying funding opportunities and preparing strong grant applications for tribal housing and community development programs. Participants will learn how to align project ideas with funding priorities, clearly describe community needs, and develop realistic project plans and budgets. The training will also highlight common mistakes that weaken applications and provide tips for improving competitiveness.

  • In partnership with NACCED, Civitas will conduct two 2-hour sessions virtually on October 28 & 29.

    The NSPIRE training is an implementation-focused course designed to translate HUD’s inspection standards into day-to-day inspection practice. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the three inspectable areas, deficiency criteria, severity levels, and affirmative habitability requirements. The webinar uses curated photo examples, checklist walk-throughs, and realistic virtual case studies to illustrate how common deficiencies are identified, documented, and scored. The training covers NSPIRE scoring mechanics, correction timelines, and documentation expectations, equipping attendees with the tools and confidence needed to conduct accurate, defensible inspections under HUD’s current standards.
